Hi folks! Sorry for the delay in getting assignments sent out - there's a bug on the AO3 end that I'm trying to get resolved. If it's not fixed by the end of the day, I'll be sending them out by hand, so one way or another you'll have your assignments by 9:00 AM EST.

Just over two weeks til signups close, and we have ten participants so far! I'm hoping to get more before signups close, especially since we have a pretty diverse set of offers and requests. If you're worried, though, signups are editable and you can add more right up til signups close ^^

Ah, the joys of technology. I've been troubleshooting the signup form, because apparently I didn't notice any of the problems with it until it went active.

Some of the changes:

-It won't ask you for 3 fandoms *per* request anymore (thank you, smallhobbit. OTL)
-You really can ask for either fanfiction or fanart! If you tried to sign up and it gave you that error, it's fixed now.

If there's any more technical issues, comment below, and I'll get it taken care of.

 Signups Are Open!

Signup form is here.

Tagset is here.

You may sign up and request 3-10 fandoms with 1-10 characters and/or relationship groups, and offers are 4-10 fandoms, 1-10 character/relationships.

Some fandoms only have a single character nominated; due to the nature of some of these books and their small fandoms, you MAY choose to nominate the character and then say that you're fine with receiving anything for the book. [EDIT: The rule about the character DNW has been removed due to concerns.]

Please state major DNWs, especially regarding major archive warnings, within the provided box; anything within letters is optional and may be disregarded by your giftee. If you link a letter, it can be incomplete, but please try to have it complete/unlocked by the end of signups, which is set for the 19th of August.

Fanfiction must be 1k or more; fanart must be a completed sketch.

If after matching, there is nobody for you to create for, you will receive an email asking if there are any other nominated fandoms you feel comfortable creating for. If there is nobody to create for you, your request will go up as a pinch hit.

Requests will be visible from the start, if I get it right :D

Nominations are closed! I'm adding main characters to empty fandoms and then signups should be open in a few days :)

Three hours left to nominate! We have over 170 fandoms nominated (holy crud!) and so far, everything seems pretty tidy, so signups may be opening a few days early - I expected more trouble with my first set of nominations, but aside from the early hiccup that got fixed by the lovely Deckard, things have been sailing smoothly.

A few notes:

Dragon Age (All Media Types) has been rejected; if you meant the novels, please re-nominate with specific novel titles!

Signups have been increased to 3-10 fandoms. With the number of books we've gotten it seems fairer, and will make matching easier.

A number of books don't have any characters nominated. This SHOULD be workable, but if not I'll be going through and nominating at least the main character for each.

Please keep writing up posts about your favourite books! I'd love to hear about them all.

Title: The Doomspell Trilogy (Books: The Doomspell, The Scent of Magic, The Wizard's Promise)

Author: Cliff McNish

Genre: Dark Fantasy

Age Grade: Middle Grade

Release Date: 2000-2002

Link: https://www.amazon.com/Doomspell-Trilogy-Cliff-McNish/dp/1842551027

The Doomspell Trilogy is one of my favourite series for a few major reasons: it's gen and doesn't even passingly concern itself with romance, it's violent and dark without being gratuitous, and it's chock-full of amazing, diverse female characters, from the brash but insecure Rachel to trauma survivor Heiki to the manipulative, immature Calen.

These books are unfortunately some of the most obscure ones I've read. I got them as a kid, and haven't ever gotten rid of them, but it feels like nobody else has ever even heard of them! The premise is as follows: Rachel and Eric have been having strange dreams, when one day, a door opens in their basement and rips them away to a new world. In this other world of Ithrea, all children have magic, and Rachel is the most powerful of them all. In the next two books, Rachel encounters the wider world of witches, and defends the Earth from danger.

Hello everyone! Nominations are still going strong, with plenty of odd and wonderful books being nominated. I'm tentatively allowing Arthurian Mythology and Much Ado About Nothing currently, but to clarify, any signups and requests for Arthurian Mythology should draw from the books and collections of mythos, rather than movies, novels, etc. (Thomas Mallory's Le Morte D'Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight - yes! The Once and Future King - must be nominated and requested separately.)

Due to there being so many books I've never heard of before, I'm shamelessly stealing an idea from SFFest and giving people the opportunity to promote, talk about or otherwise get excited about some of the books they've nominated/might be requesting!

Rules:

1. One post per book, per 24 hours. Let's not get swamped!

2. No spoilers, but trigger warnings, heads-ups, etc. for dark content are appreciated.

3. Include a Goodreads/Amazon link if you can! I want to find the book you're making me want to read.

4. No tearing down other books - this is about being positive about and promoting your own favourites.

5. I'm not going to be draconian about this, but definitely promote the smaller books over the ones that most of us are familiar with.

Nominations close on the 22nd!

I'm working out a formatting bug with nominations - they should be reopened in the next hour or so. Thanks so much to Deckardis for the help!

After this, you'll have to nominate relationships as "Group: Character A/Character B" or "Group: Character A & Character B". This is to help with matching.

The amount of fandoms you can choose for signups is now 3-10, and characters/relationships in the same field as 10-15.

Sorry about the trouble!

Edit: Reopened! *wheeze*

1. The nominated fandom must be a fiction novel, novella or novelette, e-book, or webnovel over 20,000 words in length.

2. Comics, webcomics, non-fiction sources, poetry and short stories are not eligible at this time. However, epic poetry, due to its narrative nature, is accepted; 'The Iliad, 'The Odyssey' and 'The Epic of Gilgamesh' for example.

3. Nominate series as full series - 'Harry Potter by JK Rowling' rather than 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'.

4. Non-English works are allowed, as well as spin-off and adaptation novels. (e.g. Japanese light novels, and Star Trek/Star Wars universe novels.) However, make sure to tag specifically for the book version of things.

5. All pairings are eligible.

6. Older and classic novels are welcomed and encouraged!
